Our approach

Evidence first.
Every step explained.

A structured investigation begins with clear questions, an agreed scope and realistic expectations.

A considered beginning

Before action,
understanding.

A cryptocurrency loss can feel urgent and confusing. The first step is to organise the facts and assess whether an investigation can provide useful information.

An enquiry is a starting point. It does not create a service agreement or an obligation to pay for investigative work.

01 / INITIAL ASSESSMENT

Understand the circumstances.

Describe the incident, the relevant dates and the records available. We consider what questions can be investigated and which facts need clarification.

Keep the first enquiry brief. There is no need to submit wallet credentials, identity documents or complete financial records through the public form.

02 / WRITTEN SCOPE

Know what you are agreeing to.

Before proceeding, review the proposed services, deliverables, fee structure, expected timetable and material limitations in writing.

The engagement should explain what happens if the evidence is insufficient, how changes to scope are approved and which additional costs require your agreement.

03 / INVESTIGATION

Examine and document.

Relevant transaction records and supporting evidence are examined within the agreed scope. Findings should distinguish confirmed observations from possible interpretations.

Where a trail becomes unclear or an attribution cannot be verified, that uncertainty belongs in the report.

04 / FINDINGS & NEXT STEPS

Make an informed decision.

Review the findings, their limitations and potential routes for further reporting or recovery support.

Exchange assistance, law-enforcement action and legal proceedings are controlled by those parties. CERECA cannot promise that they will accept a case, freeze assets or recover funds.

Transparency throughout. If a proposed investigation cannot answer your question, or costs may outweigh its usefulness, that should be explained before you decide. Read our FAQs →
